What is AVON?

 

AVON iconAVON, or Academic Video Online is a streaming video collection that contains more than 30,000 high-quality educational videos.

In order to access AVON, you will need to use your LACCD email and your portal password.

Accessing AVON

 
  1. Start from the LASC homepage (http://www.lasc.edu)
  2. Click on the Library button.
  3. Click on A to Z Databases button.
  4. From the alphabetical list, scroll down and click on the link for AVON.
  5. From off-campus, you must log in to access the databases:
    • Enter your LACCD student email address and your LACCD portal password (same as Canvas/Register for classes)

Browsisng and Searching for  Videos on AVON

  1. Either browse the featured videos on the screen or click on Search. 
  2. Enter your search keywords.
  3. Be sure to search within "All Videos" and then click on the search button.
  4. Browse the results and click on the thumbnail of a relevant video.

Viewing Videos on AVON

  1. Press the Play button to start the video.
  2. Use the sharing or citation tools.
    • Be sure to check our citation page to review and correct the generated citation before you cite this source in a research project.
  3. Click on CC icon for the closed captioning.
  4. For live transcripts, click on Transcript
    • some videos also include auto-translations into other languages
