Use Google Scholar to access academic articles and other types of academic resources.  It provides free access to many articles, however, some articles are locked down and not available for free.

You can unlock some of the articles by connecting Google Scholar with our college library.  This is done through the "Library Links" setting within Google Scholar.

Connecting Google Scholar with our Library

  1. Go to Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com
  2. Click on the menu
  3. Click on Settings
  4. Click on Library Links
  5. In the search box, enter Los Angeles Southwest College and click on Search
  6. Check the box for "Los Angeles Southwest College Library - Full Text @ LASC"
  7. Click on Save
  8. Enter your search terms
  9. Browse your search results and select an appropriate title
  10. Click on the connecting link to our library, if available, it will be listed on the right side as Full Text @ LASC
You will be directed to our library's website.
  11. Click on the database link
  12. If you are off-campus, then you must log in to access the databases:
    • In the Username box enter your complete student ID number
    • In the Password box enter your four-digit LASC ID PIN which should be your month and day in the mmdd format (for example if you were born on March 15 then your PIN is: 0315)
  13. Review the results, and click on the article link
  14. Review the article, locate the information that you need for your research, and use the share and citation tools.
