Credo Reference is a library subscription database that provides access to thousands of articles from reference sources such as encyclopedias and dictionaries. It is a great place to find overviews and background information on your research topic. The articles come from highly respectable reference sources. You can use these types of sources to gain knowledge on the subject and to help you focus or narrow your topic.
Using reference sources can benefit you by:
providing you with a better understanding of concepts related to your topic
exposing you to terminology and vocabulary related to your topic, which can help you come up with better keywords for your search strategy
giving you a greater context and perspective to help you better understand the content from scholarly sources
How do I find Credo Reference?
Start from the Los Angeles Southwest College home page: www.lasc.edu
Click on the Library button from the top menu
Click on the button for A to Z Databases
Scroll down the page and click on the Credo Reference link
From off-campus, you must log in to access the databases:
Enter your LACCD student email address and your LACCD portal password (same as Canvas/Register for classes)
How do use Credo Reference?
Enter your search terms in the search box and press enter
Explore options to filter your search results by type, publication date, subject, and length
Explore your search results and click on a relevant article
Review the article and use the tools to save, print, cite, and more
Print or Download the Article
Click on the "Save" icon
Then, click on the desired option
Print
Download
Save to (Google) Drive
Citation
Click on the "Cite" button
Select the appropriate citation style
Click on "Copy," then paste the citation into your document.
