What is Kanopy?
Kanopy is a streaming video collection that contains more than 30,000 high-quality educational videos.
In order to access Kanopy, you must access the link from the library's website and you must be a current Los Angeles Southwest College student.
If you are an employee, please contact a librarian for access.
Accessing Kanopy
- Start from the Los Angeles Southwest College home page: www.lasc.edu
- Click on the Library button from the top menu
- Become familiar with the page
- Click on the button for A to Z Databases
- Scroll down the page and click on the Kanopy link
- Enter your library login:
- If you are a student:
- Username = your student id number
- Password = four-digit number comprised of your month and day of your birth
Example, if you were born on March 15 your PIN is 0315
- If you are a faculty, e-mail a librarian for a login
- If you are a student:
- Click on the Visit the LASC Collection button
- Create your own personal account by filling out the form, or if you already have an account, then click on Log button located on the top right corner.
- If prompted, make sure that Los Angeles Southwest College is listed as an active library for your personal account
- Look for videos to watch by exploring the options from the top menu:
- 10.A: View featured videos by clicking on Kanopy
- 10.B: Browse the collection by topic
- 10.C: Search by title or keyword
- Once you find a video, click on the thumbnail
- Click on the Play button to start watching the video and access video functions such as:
- CC for closed captioning
- Transcript
- Full-screen
- Click on Share for sharing options
- For Citation help, scroll down until you get to the Citation Tool
- The two most common styles used at LASC is APA and MLA.
- Be sure to select the one that is preferred by your instructor, and to correct any issues from the citation
